FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE:

Wenatchee, WA--The Wenatchee Festival of Trees held Saturday, November 21 through Sunday, November 22 is pleased to announce the Designer Awards for the elaborately decorated trees, mini trees and wreaths that were on display at the Red Lion Hotel in Wenatchee this past weekend.

The Festival of Trees is known for the beautiful display of decorated Christmas trees which were auctioned off at the Saturday night Gala presented by Wenatchee Valley Medical Center.  The talented volunteer designers are not all professionals, but local people who have a passion for decorating. “The showcase of visual art is amazing. It was truly overwhelming to see the time and labor of the tree designs,” states Festival Administrator, Jennifer Bushong.

The large trees were spectacular, and the sights continued with the design of the Pipkin Construction Mini Trees and Banner Bank Wreath display. The Festival attracts over 100 designers to decorate every year. There are thousands who view the trees, place their bids and hope to bring home a mini tree or wreath.

This year we had more classrooms from Sunnyslope, Lee and Kenroy elementary schools participating. While all the designs were well done and very unique, some received awards for their hard work. “Our award categories are an opportunity for designers to be acknowledged in the showcase of their many talents. Winners received a plaque donated by Haglund's Trophies,” states Chris Burke, Event Coordinator.

The awards were in two different categories; one for the large themed trees and one for the 2-foot mini trees and wreaths. Judging was based on how well the theme was portrayed, appropriateness of items used, texture, color, balance, attractiveness, basic design, creativity and scale of the overall tree.
